Membership card (2026)

(extract only)

New membership cards are issued to existing club members in March each year.

New members that join throughout the calendar year also receive one.

If you have lost your membership card, speak with the membership officer to obtain a replacement.

Important: Safety announcement

This membership card contains important club contact phone numbers.

At the start of every new walk year, members are reminded to add in their nominated emergency contact to the space provided on the card.

It is a condition of joining this club that this card be held ‘on your person’ when you attend a walk event.

Thank you for your help in improving the safety for all club members.

Planning for the 2026 walking timetable

(Last updated: 31 May 2026)

For the 2026 walking season, the selection and scheduling criteria are based on:

  1. Assigning our ๐Ÿคฉ signature walks as the first priority: e.g.,
    • Registration Day (Galup):
1st Tuesday of March (opening of the walking season). Held at the Lake Monger Recreation Centre Club, Wembley.
    • Mundaring and Eastern Hills Girl Guides:
2nd week of the September school holidays: a food-catered event in support of ‘The Girl Guides’.
    • General and Annual General Meeting (A.G.M.):
November at the *Lake Monger Recreation Centre Club, Wembley.
(*May 2026 – rescheduled from Maylands to Wembley for a more favourable cost).
  2. Staggering the North of the River (N.o.R.) and South of the River (S.o.R.) walks by scheduling them on alternative weeks.

This should provide a nice balance of ‘home’ or ‘away’ journeys for our club members that reside in โ€˜all corners’ of the Perth metropolitan area โ€“ north of the city, south of the city, on the coastline to our west and in the hills of our Darling Range to the east.
  3. For the walks that are a greater distance from the city centre (e.g., Glen Forrest, Darlington, Hovea, Mundaring), it is planned to schedule only one of those per month, where possible.
  4. Our walk coordinator obtains weekly feedback from our members about the suitability of walks for the following year’s timetables.
  5. In time for the ‘Have-a-go-Day’ (November) annual event, the committee prepared a preliminary list of up to five (5) December-January summer evening walks plus the first four (4) New Year club daytime walks to allow existing and new members to plan their attendance.
  6. New membership cards โ€“ which include the full calendar year list of walks โ€“ are typically printed in time for the March ‘Registration Day’ walk event.

The committee continues to compile ongoing suggestions and feedback, which feeds into the following year’s scheduled timetable.
