                    ARCHIVES  EXTRA          YORK GETAWAY 2021

Sixty members of OFFWA went away to the rural setting of York for the annual Getaway. Settlers House the Venue, where our group

enjoyed the heritage atmosphere, welcoming staff and the attractively furnished rooms which contained all the facilities one would require.

On the first evening there was an optional dressup with many going to great lengths to wear outfits which expounded the heritage theme,

even the staff dressed as serving wenches as they dashed between the tables.

Optional morning walks were organised by walk coodinators Di and Doug so that that wished were able to exercise and enjoy the beautiful weather.

After the walks a sausage sizzle picnic in a park was organised by Lorraine.

A hamburger lunch was enjoyed on another day at the Settlers.

Optional excursions took place in the afternoons to several of Yorks many attractions. Visits were made to the sock factory, Olive Oil Company[which has delicious Ice Creams]

the motor museum and not to be missed the tour of the Town Hall

Delicious evening meals were served each evening by Settlers with live music in the courtyard on several occasions, which got a number of our

members up dancing. the last evening's entertainment was a quiz organised by our resident historian Gordon.

On the last day, after a sumptious breakfast,at Settlers it was time to say good-bye to this fascinating heritage town. Many members said they would return

to explore further. President Shirley thanked the staff for their impeccable hospitality and most of all a huge thankyou to OFFWA getaway coordinator

Kevin and wife Rhonda for all the hard work they have put into arranging such a wonderful Getaway.

                                                        MARGARET RIVER GETAWAY 2019

Fifty eight members headed south to spend 4 nights at 'Stay Margaret River Hotel'. This was a wonderful venue for the group and the staff could
not have been more helpful and eager to please.
The event organised so well by Ian our Social coordinator had a 70's Flower Power theme with most dressing appropriately. In fact it was hard to
recognise folk with their variety of wigs and makeup. A parade took place after dinner and prizes were awarded.
Walks had been organised for each morning but due to the inclement weather this was not popular with all members. Some prefered to spend time
in the comfortable hotel lounge, playing board games, cards or just having a coffee and a chat or to browse shops in town.
Sausage sizzle and hamburger lunches were organised by our very capable lunches coordinator Lorraine. Because of the doubtful weather the hotel
allowed us to use their indoor quest kitchen for these meals.
A 'Happy Hour' was held each evening at 5pm followed by a delicious buffet dinner in the hotel function room.
Each evening there was entertainment, Juniper wines hosted a tasting. On Wednesday it was thinking caps on for the traditional quiz night hosted
by Professor Gordon. There was a tie for first place and the bars of Lindt Chocolate were distributed accordingly.
Thursday was Halloween and members brought out their weird and wonderful costumes and participated in a 'Murder Mystery' event. This was
presented by members of the 'OFFWA Acting Academy' who were under the guidence of writer/director Joy and led by Detective Clueless.
Much laughter and ribalt comments ensued from the audience as they tried to guess 'Who Dun it'.
So we reluctantly came to the end of our wonderful 5 days of fun and fellowship with most planning to attend the 2020 Getaway in Albany.
